Over 20 Years of Experience

Matt Epp

Meet Your Outfitter

Matt Epp has two decades of invaluable experience in the hunting industry. He embarked on his career at just 18, with an initial position guiding caribou hunts in the pristine wilderness of northern Manitoba. Over the years, he’s travelled throughout the diverse landscapes of Canada, successfully guided for variety of species like moose, mountain and central barren-ground caribou, grizzly bears, and muskox.

In 2005, he seized the opportunity to acquire Blackjack Outfitters, where he leads guided black bear hunts at sold-out capacity each year. Since taking over the original business, Matt’s additional land acquisitions have given Blackjack Outfitters the exclusive outfitting rights to 2000 square miles. That’s larger than the entire state of Delaware!

Matt’s extensive background in the hunting industry has imparted invaluable insights into how to enhance our guided black bear hunts. Above all, he understands that honesty and hard work are the bedrock of success in this industry. You won’t hear him making extravagant promises, but you can always count on him to work tirelessly to deliver the best experience possible.

In this area that’s known for trophy black and colour phase bears, you can be assured that every hunt under Blackjack Outfitters’ guidance will be both an enjoyable and unforgettable experience.
